What is a landing page?
A landing page is a single web page built for one campaign, offer or audience, where every element pushes the visitor towards one action, such as filling in a form, calling or starting a WhatsApp chat. People usually arrive from an ad, an email or a social post, not from browsing your site.
Most landing pages have no main menu, so visitors are not pulled away to other pages. The page exists to turn a specific click into a specific enquiry.
Landing page vs website: what's the difference?
A website introduces your whole business to every kind of visitor; a landing page focuses on one offer for one kind of visitor. You usually need both: the website builds trust and ranks in search, and landing pages convert paid or campaign traffic.
- Purpose - Website: Explain the whole business; Landing page: Convert one campaign
- Audience - Website: Everyone; Landing page: One segment (for example, people searching "AC repair in Lucknow")
- Navigation - Website: Full menu; Landing page: Usually none
- Actions - Website: Many (read, browse, contact); Landing page: One (enquire, call, WhatsApp, book)
- Traffic - Website: Search, direct, referrals; Landing page: Ads, email, social campaigns
Should Google Ads go to your website or a landing page? If one service page already matches the search and has a clear enquiry option, it can work. If the ad promises a specific offer, a dedicated landing page usually matches it better. Our website for small business guide [LINK: /blog/website-for-small-business, planned pillar, 404 today] explains what the main site needs.
What makes a landing page design get enquiries?
A landing page gets enquiries when a visitor can see within seconds that it is the right offer, that you can be trusted and what to do next. The anatomy of a page that converts:
- Headline that matches the ad or search. If the ad says "Same-day AC repair in Lucknow", the headline says the same.
- One-line subheading with who it is for and the main benefit.
- Proof near the top: reviews, ratings, client logos (with permission), years in business or a short result.
- One clear action above the fold: a short form, a call button or a WhatsApp button.
- What happens next: "We'll call you within 2 working hours" (only if true).
- Benefits and details for people who need more: what's included, process, service area, FAQs.
- Repeat the action after each main section.
- Fast, mobile-first layout. Google's web.dev Core Web Vitals guide says the Largest Contentful Paint should happen within 2.5 seconds for a good user experience.
For paid traffic, page quality also affects cost. Google's Quality Score help page lists landing page experience, "how relevant and useful your landing page is to people who click your ad", as one of three components.
9 landing page design examples for Indian businesses
These nine examples are anonymised patterns from landing pages Sharp Rays has built or audited. Each shows what the page does and why it works. [ADD OUR DATA: conversion rate for each where tracked, with client permission]
- Clinic appointment page (services). Headline names the treatment and city; doctor's qualifications and ratings sit under it; a three-field booking form (name, phone, preferred time) plus a call button. Works because it answers "is this doctor qualified and nearby?" before asking for anything.
- Home services page, such as AC or appliance repair. Big "Call now" and WhatsApp buttons fixed to the bottom of the phone screen, service areas listed, visit charges shown clearly. Works because urgent buyers want to talk, not fill forms.
- Interior design consultation page. Before-and-after gallery near the top, typical project types and a "Book a free site visit" form that asks for property type and budget range. Works because the photos are the proof, and the extra fields filter casual visitors.
- Coaching institute admissions page. Course, batch dates and fees in the first screen, past results with permission, a "Request a callback" form and a downloadable brochure. Works because parents and students compare fees and dates first.
- Real estate project page. Location map, price range, floor plans and RERA number up top, with "Get price sheet on WhatsApp" as the action. Works because a specific, useful reward earns the contact. [VERIFY: RERA display rules for the state of the project]
- B2B manufacturer enquiry page. Product range, certifications, minimum order quantity and industries served, with a "Request a quote" form that asks for product, quantity and city. Works because business buyers need specifications before they enquire.
- CA or legal services page. One service per page (for example, GST registration), a clear process in steps, documents needed and a price or "starting from" figure if you publish one. Works because a clear process removes uncertainty.
- D2C product page for ads. One product, benefit-led headline, product photos and video, reviews, delivery and return details, and a single "Buy now" button. Works because the ad, product and checkout stay in one line. Our D2C marketing strategy guide [LINK: /blog/d2c-marketing-strategy, planned, 404 today] covers the wider funnel.
- Webinar or event registration page. Title, date, time (with IST), speaker credentials, three things attendees will learn and a two-field form. Works because the page answers "is it worth an hour?" quickly.

Should a landing page use a form or a WhatsApp button?
Use whichever your buyers prefer, and you can offer both: a short form for people who want a callback, and a WhatsApp button for people who want to chat now. For urgent or local services, WhatsApp and call buttons often suit mobile visitors; for higher-value or B2B enquiries, a form that captures a few qualifying details helps your team prioritise. WhatsApp's click to chat help page explains how to create a wa.me link, including one with a pre-filled message, so you can tell which page the chat came from. Our guide to WhatsApp marketing for businesses covers handling those chats.
Keep forms short: ask only what you need to respond well. Every extra field should earn its place.
What should a landing page for Google Ads include?
A landing page for Google Ads should repeat the promise in the ad, load fast on mobile, give one clear action and have conversion tracking in place before the ads go live. Checklist:
- Headline that uses the same words as the ad group's keywords.
- Offer, price or "starting from" figure if you advertise one.
- Proof and contact details visible without scrolling far.
- Tracking for form submits, calls and WhatsApp clicks.
- One page per service or offer, not one page for every ad.
Our guide to Google Ads in the AI era covers budgets and campaign set-up; tracking set-up is covered in [LINK: Google Ads conversion tracking setup, /blog/google-ads-conversion-tracking-setup, planned].
How do you test and track a landing page?
Track every enquiry action first, then test one change at a time and compare tracked enquiries over enough visits. Steps:
- Mark enquiries as key events in Google Analytics 4. Google's key events help page explains how.
- Track ad conversions in Google Ads (and Meta, if you run Meta ads). Google's conversion tracking overview lists website, call and app conversion types.
- Pick one change to test, such as the headline, the form length or the position of the WhatsApp button.
- Run the test long enough to collect a meaningful number of enquiries before deciding. [VERIFY: sample-size guidance before stating a number]
- Check lead quality, not only volume. Our post on Meta ads lead quality explains why.

FAQs
How long should a landing page be?
As long as the decision needs. A ₹500 service may need one screen; a ₹50 lakh flat or a B2B contract needs more detail. Put the action near the top either way and repeat it further down.
Can I make a landing page on WordPress?
Yes. WordPress, Shopify and most website builders can create landing pages; the design principles are the same. Check that the page loads fast on mobile and that tracking works before running ads.
How many landing pages do I need?
One per main offer or audience you advertise to. If two ad groups promise different things, they usually need different pages.
Should a landing page have a menu?
Usually not. A menu gives visitors ways to leave without enquiring. Keep your logo, contact details and a link to your privacy policy.
Do landing pages help SEO?
Campaign landing pages are built to convert paid traffic, so many are set to noindex to avoid thin or duplicate pages. Pages you want to rank should be full service pages on your main site. [VERIFY: noindex decision per page with the SEO team]
